Tanya Reinders, who identified herself during the public‑comment period, urged the Hastings‑on‑Hudson board to reconsider the proposed administrator position and asked trustees to scrutinize the full, ongoing cost of the role.
“I 100% believe in the ideals behind it,” Reinders said, but added that the cost is more than a headline salary: “It’s benefits, it’s salary, it’s retirement… it’s not $200,000 ongoing at salary and retirement and all that stuff that actually adds up to far more.” She warned that administrators do not typically provide one‑on‑one instruction and that additional personnel and resources deployed into classrooms could increase recurring costs.
Reinders said she believes in the district’s administrators and their ability to foster inclusive environments, but asked the board to weigh whether a continuing six‑figure compensation package is the right use of ongoing funds. Board members thanked her for the comment and did not take action during the meeting on the personnel matter; trustees said they would continue agenda planning for future meetings and budget discussions.
The comment was part of the public‑comment period; the board did not vote on personnel changes at this meeting.
