City inspectors presented evidence that 115 6th Avenue North, a wood‑frame structure built circa 1900, meets multiple criteria for a dangerous building and recommended commissioner action after multiple failed attempts to secure the property.
Inspector Shauna Rodnick told the commission staff documented water shut‑offs, missing alarms, broken and boarded windows, forced‑entry damage, unpermitted electrical work, junk accumulation, abandoned vehicles and foundation cracking. Staff said the property was first flagged by neighbors in October 2025, was cleared and secured by the city on multiple occasions and that Veterans United Home Loans holds a mortgage on the parcel. Staff reported having permission from the deceased owner’s estranged wife to conduct interior inspections during the ongoing casework.
No owner or representative appeared at the hearing; staff summarized a timeline of repeated tampering and re‑securing between January and March 2026 and recommended the commission adopt the proposed action. A motion to adopt the recommended order was made and approved by roll call.
The commission’s action initiates the city’s formal dangerous‑building process for this address; staff indicated contractors have been used to secure and clear the property and that further action will follow the adopted order.
