Arts, culture and community groups outline program impacts and small operating asks

Several arts and community organizations presented program updates and modest funding requests focused on maintaining service access and community engagement.

Shannon Price of the Edmond Fine Arts Institute said CARC funding represents less than 10% of the institute’s budget but funds consumable art supplies and scholarships that reach thousands: "CARC funding is used mostly for consumable art supplies that serve over, well, 8,800 students," she said. The Institute also reported partnerships with UCO and the parks department to expand class locations.

You Are Special Ministries and the Edmond Roundup Club described long-running local programs: You Are Special served several hundred children through clothing distributions and quilt programs, while the Roundup Club told commissioners its annual rodeo and related events largely rely on volunteer labor and event contractor costs.

UCO Endeavor Games organizers said the event brings roughly 250 athletes to Edmond annually and that CARC funds go toward local facility rentals, buses and volunteer coordination. Smaller, newer groups such as Willow Ranch — which provides equine-assisted counseling and learning — described volunteer-heavy operations and asked for funds to support safety training and program continuity.

Commissioners thanked presenters, asked follow-up budget questions, and directed staff to compile scoring worksheets for decisions at a future meeting.
