Community Development Committee approves farm lease renewal with Irv VanCamp

The Appleton City Community Development Committee unanimously approved a renewal of a farm lease with tenant Irv VanCamp during its March 25, 2026 meeting.

A city staff member said the renewal continues a lease the city has held with the farmer for the past decade and keeps the existing 5% annual rent escalator. The lease covers approximately 21.14 acres at 110 and 210 West Edgewood Drive at a rental rate of $76.58 per acre and includes no crop-loss provision.

The staff member told the committee that the primary change to the documents is to the attached exhibits: Exhibit A reflects a slight change in total farmed acreage because utility work will install manholes on the property, and Exhibit B replaces an older (circa 2012) document. “Those are manholes that are going to be completed in the next month,” the staff member said, adding that engineering would stake a 10-foot buffer around each manhole in early May so the farmer can clearly see the locations and avoid damage.

Committee members were offered an opportunity to ask questions but raised none. The committee then voted on the motion to approve the renewal; the chair announced the motion passed 4–0.

The committee also approved minutes from its March 11, 2026 meeting earlier in the session. With no additional information items, the committee moved to adjourn.
