Board hears introduction to policy change to modernize vendor and payroll payments

Assistant Superintendent Curt Edelman and Christy Magia, director of accounting, introduced an item to amend Board Policy 62.15 on warrant certification, approval and cancellation to modernize how the district makes payments to vendors and eventually employees.

Edelman said the change reflects an effort to move the district into more modern payment practices and reduce reliance on paper checks. Magia said staff would provide the current policy text in the packet before the item returns for action at a future meeting.

Director Smith asked if there was any reason not to make the change; Edelman replied there is no substantive reason other than people who like paper checks.

Staff said they would include the existing policy language in the action packet and be available to answer questions when the board takes a vote.
