At the March 30 workshop, staff told the council that the village’s current vendor for employee drug and alcohol testing is moving away from in‑house testing and that administrators recommend contracting with Concentra Health Services for a one‑year agreement not to exceed $17,500.
Staff said Concentra has multiple New Jersey locations and an online portal to streamline scheduling. Questions from council members focused on the proximity of testing locations; staff said Concentra will direct employees to the closest facility.
Separately, staff reviewed the basic life‑support (BLS) billing contract with Corona's Health. The fire chief said revenue from BLS billing has risen substantially since the department began overseeing the program — citing about $700,000 in revenue last year versus prior amounts under different oversight — and said the council will consider whether to continue, extend or rebid the contract next year depending on results.
No formal awards or extensions were recorded at the workshop; staff recommended proceeding with contract steps and noted administrative improvements in the proposed vendor arrangement.
