Madison County Judge Executive Reagan Taylor declared March 30, 2026, National Doctors' Day at a brief ceremony in the Madison County Fiscal Courtroom, reading a proclamation that recognized the work of doctors across clinics, hospitals, urgent-care centers and private practices.
"Now, therefore, I, Reagan Taylor, Madison County judge executive in the Madison County Fiscal Court, do hereby proclaim 03/30/2026 as National Doctors' Day and urge all citizens to honor all doctors in their dedication and service to healing our communities," Taylor read during the ceremony.
The proclamation thanked doctors for advancing the art and science of medicine and for treating patients with dignity and respect. Taylor noted local partnerships with Baptist Health Richmond and Saint Joseph when introducing the physicians in attendance.
Dr. Erica Gregonis, chief medical officer at Baptist Health Richmond and a practicing pulmonologist, said the recognition "means the world" to physicians and their families, calling medicine a calling that people do not take lightly and stressing the sacrifices families make to support clinicians' work.
Dr. Daniel Gaspar, a physician and chief medical staff at Berea Hospital, thanked the court for the recognition and said it was an "honor and a privilege" to care for community patients.
The ceremony consisted of the proclamation reading, brief remarks by the invited physicians, and closing thanks; there were no motions, votes or policy decisions recorded at the event. The proclamation urges residents to honor physicians for their service and contributions to community health.
