Commission approves amended interlocal agreement for Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force; Daggett County to join

Duchesne County commissioners approved Resolution No. 26-01 on March 23, authorizing an amended interlocal agreement that establishes the Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force and authorizes county participation in the multi-jurisdictional unit. Commissioner Tracy Killian moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Jeff Chugg seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. The resolution also authorized Commissioner Jeff Chugg to sign the agreement on behalf of Duchesne County.

Earlier in the meeting Commissioner Chugg noted that Daggett County requested membership in the Strike Force and said members at the Strike Force meeting voted unanimously to add Daggett County to the unit. Deputy Attorney Grant Charles explained that some Strike Force jurisdictions operate under Vernal City as the administrative jurisdiction, and commissioners discussed jurisdictional arrangements and the scope of cooperation among participating law enforcement agencies.

The amended interlocal agreement formalizes cooperation among participating counties and municipalities in the Uintah Basin on narcotics enforcement. The Commission’s formal approval clears the way for continued joint operations under the updated governance structure.
