Duchesne County commissioners on March 23 approved three approach permits and heard a public-works update while deferring action on a request to designate a shared road as Class D.
Public Works Director Mike Casper briefed the commission on operations: crews have been graveling roads in the Tabiona Valley, work continues on 6000 South, a culvert on 15000 West was replaced, the crusher is expected back in service soon, and the mastic machine is undergoing minor repairs. Casper also said crew members helped respond to a weekend fire and noted public requests related to engine-brake signage.
Public Works Deputy Director Clint Curtis presented three approach permits (A26-014, A26-016 and A26-017). Commissioner Jeff Chugg moved to approve the permits as presented; Commissioner Tracy Killian seconded and the motion passed with Commissioners Chugg, Killian and Chairman Greg Miles voting aye.
Community Development Assistant Director Mike Gottfredson presented a separate request—filed by Top Notch Builders on behalf of the owners of Parcel 00-0004-2956 (Manbear Pig Farm, LLC) and Parcel 00-0035-2515 (Michael Rohrer)—to designate the 2,000-foot shared road at 4750 N 5000 W as a Class D road per state code. Commissioners discussed construction expectations and agreed the road should be built to Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) standards; they requested more time to consider the request and took no final action.
The approvals and the deferred decision were recorded on the meeting record; the transcript does not list specific permit conditions beyond standard procedure.
