The Stewart County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 13 approved a set of routine administrative actions, voting unanimously to install a septic system at the Road Department, adopt 2026 election qualifying fees, increase the county mileage reimbursement rate to $0.725 per mile and accept the county's December 2025 financial reports.
Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved to have Dixon Environmental install a septic system at the Road Department; Commissioner Tyrone Nelson seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote. Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved to approve the 2026 qualifying fees as stated on the agenda; Commissioner MaQuonzie Thomas seconded and the motion carried.
Commissioner MaQuonzie Thomas moved to raise the county mileage reimbursement rate to $0.725 per mile; Vice-Chair Thomas Mayo seconded, and the board approved the change. The commission also accepted the December financial reports after a motion by Commissioner Joe Lee Williams and a second from Vice-Chair Thomas Mayo.
