The Stewart County Board of Commissioners approved several administrative actions during its Feb. 11, 2025 regular meeting at the Stewart County Courthouse.
Chairwoman Arcola Scott moved to appoint Marilyn Christian to the Stewart County Housing Authority for a five-year term ending Jan. 31, 2030; Vice Chair Thomas Mayo seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously to approve the appointment. The minutes record the motion and the term date.
The board also accepted a lease between the Stewart County Board of Commissioners and the Stewart County Historic Commission; Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved to accept the lease, Vice Chair Thomas Mayo seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved that the county repair the fence belonging to D. David Brown on the condition that Mr. Brown acknowledged the county will need future access to the drainage pipe on the property. Vice Chair Thomas Mayo seconded; the board approved the motion and directed county staff to draw up an agreement reflecting the county’s retained access for the drainage pipe.
The board accepted the January 2025 financial reports after a motion by Commissioner Joe Lee Williams, and approved renewal of the county’s OnSolve/Code Red emergency-notification contract through 2026 following presentation of the EMS report by Public Safety Administrator Greg Stewart. The Road Department report was provided as part of the county manager’s report and no separate action beyond acceptance was recorded.
Board members discussed returning keys to the Wims Center to a recreation group to restore gym access; the minutes note discussion but record no final action on that item. The meeting adjourned at 5:58 PM.
