The Stewart County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved on Dec. 10 a request to rezone 278 acres owned by Providence Canyon Ranch LLC (Parcel #027 007 in Lumpkin) from A-1 (General Agricultural and Forestry) to PUD (Planned Unit Development), allowing use as a resort/camp.
The County Attorney, Bin Minter, told the board that the Planning & Zoning Board had held a duly noticed hearing on Nov. 25 and recommended approval. An applicant representative presented the proposal; Commissioner Joe Lee Williams moved to approve the rezoning and Commissioner Tyrone Nelson seconded. The motion carried with all commissioners voting in favor.
The rezoning record in the minutes notes the parcel number and total acreage. The action authorizes a change in zoning classification; specific development plans, conditions or required permits beyond the zoning decision were not recorded in the minutes and remain subject to Planning & Zoning processes and any required permits or conditions attached to the PUD approval.
Next steps: file and record zoning change per county procedures and proceed with any subsequent permitting or site-specific reviews required under the county’s zoning regulations.
