The Midway City Parks, Trails & Trees Committee approved minutes from January 27 and February 24, 2026, and heard updates on a slate of local parks and trail projects at its March 24 meeting.
Committee member Nancy O’Toole outlined prioritized trail projects for the coming year, including replacement of the boardwalk trail off Cari Lane; a trail linking Pine Canyon to Farm Springs through Midway Village; and continuation of the trail along the north side of Burgi Lane from Burgi Park west to 100 East. O’Toole raised shading needs in the Burgi Park dog area and noted a $2,500 grant that, with matching city funds, would bring available funding to $5,000 for shade improvements. The committee discussed tree options (O’Toole suggested Lebanon trees) and alternate shade solutions such as covered seating already used elsewhere in the park.
On signage and safety, committee members discussed a reported incident of a car driving on the paved trail in Ameyali. Members considered options including additional signage or installing a bollard or boulder to prevent vehicle access; Nancy O’Toole also described persistent parking over the bike trail along 200 West near Kringle and recommended extending no-parking signage on the west side of that road. Lisa Barkdull suggested adding a trail sign near the Kantons timed with Homestead construction. City staff reported the next round of Midway trail markers is scheduled for installation along Prine Canyon Road and River Road within about two weeks.
The committee also noted an Open Space open house scheduled for April 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a Wasatch Trails Foundation mixer on March 25, and the Provo River Watershed Festival on Sept. 12. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m. after a motion by Angie Richardson, seconded by Rachel Harvey; the motion passed unanimously.
