The Woodson County Board of Commissioners voted March 17 to approve the county’s 2026 Noxious Weed Management Plan. Jarrod McVey presented the plan and accompanying reports; Commissioner Justin Clark moved to approve the plan, Jerry Sedlacek seconded and the motion passed.
McVey told the board he has not yet completed a job description for seasonal help tied to the plan and said he has contacted masonry companies to inspect the courthouse; several trees in the courthouse courtyard also need maintenance, McVey reported. The minutes record these as outstanding, work-priority items rather than completed actions.
The approval authorizes implementation of the 2026 plan, with departmental staff responsible for follow-up on the seasonal position description and the courthouse property inspections. No financial figures or outside grant sources were recorded in the minutes with the plan presentation.
