The House Transportation Committee unanimously reported Senate Bill 212, which would create a "Play Golf Ohio" license plate to raise funds for PGA charitable programs. Proponent Patrick Salba, executive director of the Southern Ohio PGA and PGA Reach Southern Ohio, told the committee the plates would support programs for veterans, youth and access that include PGA HOPE, a free six‑week adaptive golf program for veterans and active‑duty service members.
"My name is Patrick Salba. I serve as the executive director of the Southern Ohio PGA and our charitable foundation PGA Reach Southern Ohio," Salba told the committee, describing statewide programs that he said reach thousands of golfers and provide scholarships and free instruction for children.
After Salba's remarks, Vice Chair Daniels moved that the committee favorably report SB 212. The motion was called and the committee reported the bill out recommending favorable passage. The chair asked members to sign the committee report before the roll is left open until 5 p.m.
The committee took no further substantive testimony on the measure during the session. The report advances SB 212 to the next stage of the legislative process.
