Committee hears bill to name I‑475/Dorr Street interchange for Keith G. Early

House Bill 334 received its first hearing as sponsors described naming the I‑475 and Dorr Street interchange in Lucas County for Keith G. Early, the long‑serving Lucas County engineer who retired in 2019 and died in 2021.

Representative Grimm opened the testimony and thanked joint sponsor Representative Erica White. Mike Hynuski, currently the Lucas County engineer, outlined the interchange's planning, funding coalition and safety benefits, saying the project provided a secondary access route to the University of Toledo and improved mobility for western Lucas County. Hynuski noted the interchange's modern roundabout elements and the project's high ranking in regional funding competitions.

Ruby J. Early, Mr. Early's widow, delivered emotional testimony about his public‑service career and urged the committee to approve the designation to honor his work and legacy.

Committee members offered no objections and the chair recorded the presentation as the bill's first hearing.
