The Madison Parish Police Jury on March 24 adopted Resolution No. 2025-5 to change signers on the Madison Parish Economic Development checking account and approved several routine financial and personnel actions.
The resolution, moved by Johnny Hughes and seconded by Dave Wilson, was read in full and adopted by roll call. The measure requires “two (2) original signatures” on all checks drawn on the Madison Parish Economic Development account and names President Jane G. Sanders and Vice-President Johnny Hughes as authorized signers, with Secretary/Treasurer Margarett M. Dew designated as alternate.

In separate business, the jury approved its consent agenda (March 10 minutes and an outstanding invoice report) after a motion by Jerry Hicks and second by Dave Wilson. The body also authorized the payment of outstanding invoices as funds allow after a motion by Stanley Ogden and second by Johnny Hughes.
Following the resignation of Dr. Neumann as the jail’s medical provider, Jerry Hicks moved, seconded by Stanley Ogden, to appoint Hailey Erwin as the new jail medical provider at a monthly compensation of $500. The motion carried. The jury subsequently authorized the agreement for the new medical provider to be executed by President Jane G. Sanders after a motion by Johnny Hughes, seconded by Jerry Hicks.
President Sanders appointed Jerry Hicks as the local Industrial Ad Valorem Tax Exemption Program (ITEP) committee point of contact. Several community members addressed the jury during public comment about local infrastructure concerns, including sewer problems at the fairground and water backup on LaSalle Street, a request to change the meeting time and prioritization of road repairs.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn offered by Johnny Hughes. The minutes were signed by Secretary/Treasurer Margarett Dew and President Jane G. Sanders.
