The Forestville District Committee approved a request to withdraw two parcels totaling about 26 acres (tax maps 11‑A‑29A and 11‑A‑30B) from the New Church Agriculture and Forestal District so the owner can subdivide for family use and place a dwelling.
Accomack County staff presented the application on behalf of applicant Sean Taylor and owner Barbara J. Hatfield, describing the parcels and noting a well and septic area for the proposed vacant parcel. Staff reiterated that, as with the earlier case, removal from the AFD would not necessarily change the applicant’s ability to receive land‑use taxation if the parcels continued to meet acreage and use requirements.
Committee members asked whether an existing residence occupied one of the parcels and whether the proposed lot would front on Howard Road; staff confirmed the proposed subdivision would front on Howard Road. One committee member said they had no problem with the request and described it as straightforward.
A committee member moved to remove parcels 11‑A‑29A and 11‑A‑30B from the New Church Agriculture and Forestal District; another committee member seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
Staff said it will forward the application to the planning commission and board of supervisors for the subsequent steps in the review process.
