Board hears school reports, honors 25‑year employees and SACo seniors

At the May 22 meeting principals from Hillcrest and Highland presented school improvement updates and assessment results, and the board recognized employees who have served the district 25 years and thanked Student Advisory Council seniors.

Hillcrest Principal Katy Rudolph reviewed School Improvement Plan goals, reporting ELA and math targets tied to iReady diagnostics (ELA goal 583 of 778 students; math goal 623 of 778). She also reported Panorama SEL results and plans to use targeted groups and PBIS to improve students’ sense of belonging.

Highland Principal Ryan Henderson described progress on attendance and multilingual learner outcomes: kindergarten chronic absenteeism was 21.88% as of April 26, 2024 (a reported 20.48% year‑over‑year reduction) and WIDA exit rates improved across elementary grades. Directors commended staff and students for progress and creativity showcased in school videos.

The board honored six employees with 25 years of service (named in the meeting record) and President Man Taylor and others thanked SACo officers Riley Boerger, Hayden LaCelle and MacKenzie Conniff for their service and presentations.
