The Lake Stevens School District Board of Directors unanimously adopted Resolution No. 2-24 — a bond measure to construct, modernize, replace and improve school facilities — during its May 8, 2024 regular meeting.
The motion to adopt the bond resolution was made by Director Nina Hanson, seconded by Director Vildan Kirby, and approved by roll call. Assistant Superintendent of Business Teresa Main told the board that, if the board proceeds with the bond, district attorneys will file the explanatory statement required for the county Local Voters Pamphlet by the Aug. 6, 2024 deadline.
Teresa Main said the County Elections Department requires an explanatory statement and the appointment of pro/con committee members before publication; attorneys Jim McNeill and Lee Marchisio will prepare and coordinate the filing.
Board members did not vote on placing the measure on the ballot at this meeting beyond adopting the resolution; the adoption authorizes the explanatory‑statement process and other pre-election steps. The resolution itself describes the bond’s purpose as funding construction, modernization, replacement and improvements to district facilities.
The board’s action came amid other routine business and building reports presented at the meeting. The board closed the session at 9:02 p.m.
