The Pennsauken Township Board of Education voted on May 13 to approve an employment contract for Dr. Ronnie M. Tarchichi to serve as superintendent from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2029. The contract was reviewed earlier by the Interim Executive County Superintendent of Camden County for compliance with New Jersey standards, the agenda notes stated.
The approval followed a meeting in which Dr. Tarchichi highlighted district achievements and external recognition. “Roosevelt Stem school became the top school in the state only two years after its inception which is historical,” Dr. Tarchichi said, adding that “the Board, the students and all involved should be thrilled” at the accomplishment. He also reported that the NJSBA Executive Director toured Pennsauken’s career and technical education programs and praised the district as an example for other high schools.
Why it matters: The contract secures district leadership for a five‑year term and comes amid the board’s broader emphasis on sustaining momentum in career and technical education (CTE) and student achievement. Board materials state the contract complied with N.J.S.A. 18A:7‑8(j) and applicable administrative standards.
What the board approved: The agenda item presented the superintendent contract for board approval and the board adopted personnel and related agenda items in a single motion (Agenda Items 5–44). The motion to approve those agenda items was moved and seconded on the record and recorded as carried.
Public input and context: During public comment portions of the meeting, alumni association representatives and residents urged continued support for special‑needs programming and CTE offerings. Dr. Tarchichi thanked board members and staff and reiterated that his vision for the district prioritizes maintaining upward momentum for current programs.
Next steps: The contract takes effect July 1, 2024, per the agenda recommendation. The board will continue to consider personnel and program recommendations at upcoming meetings listed in the agenda, including the June 10, 2024 business meeting.
