During opening reports at the Burleson County Commissioners Court on Jan. 28, Sheriff Rios told the court the Sheriff’s Department has several current openings — two jailer positions, one dispatcher, one patrol deputy and one school resource officer for Snook Independent School District — and that the county jail held 60 inmates (45 males and 15 females).
Sheriff Rios said the office is circulating a Ride‑Along program application form and announced a Coffee With A Cop event scheduled for Feb. 10, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Citizens State Bank in Somerville. Lindsey Kindt with the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office said the department is planning a National Night Out activity called THE SANDLOT on Aug. 4, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; the final location remained pending in the meeting record.
County staff also reported election‑administration issues: Patty Vychopen, identified as the county’s new executive assistant, said the Precinct 4 primary polling place will be the Somerville School Board Room but that voter‑registration records were not available during the meeting because the TEAMS state database was not communicating properly with the Texas Secretary of State’s office.
The court heard no public comments at this meeting. The judge and commissioners then proceeded to routine agenda items.
