Butler County auditor: FY27 property tax hearing mailings sent; audit examiner granted extension to June 30

Butler County Auditor Leslie Groen told the Board of Supervisors on March 17 that the county has mailed notices for the FY27 property tax hearing and posted links to Iowa Department of Management guidance on the county website.

Groen said the state examiner from the State Auditor's office requested additional time to complete the county audit and that she submitted a 30-day extension request to move the audit deadline to June 30. "I have received confirmation that request was accepted," Groen said.

Board members discussed the possibility of posting a request for proposals to compare audit firms in the future; Groen mentioned a suggested firm in Charles City and said another county auditor shared contact information for their auditor.

No formal contract award or auditor change was decided at the meeting; the extension was accepted and the county will proceed with any procurement discussions separately.
