Commission approves Gateway Park final site plan for Jellystone Road site

The Hurricane Planning Commission approved FSP26‑07, the final site plan for Gateway Park at the corner of Jellystone Road and Gateway Boulevard. S11 moved to approve the final site plan and S8 seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.

Staff (S13) said the final plan is consistent with the previously approved preliminary site plan and meets the commission's conditions. Commissioners asked whether additional parking or temporary uses such as food trucks during tournaments had been considered. S13 noted a parking study had been provided and that the project actually supplies surplus parking; temporary vendors would be allowed as short‑term uses provided they hold required business licenses.

S11 characterized the park design favorably and singled out planned soccer fields and pickleball facilities. With no objections raised, the commission granted final site‑plan approval. Next steps include final engineering and permit issuance consistent with the approved site plan.
