Council approves 2015–2016 audit and launches Comprehensive Plan update with TRRC

Auditor Robyn Underwood presented the city’s 2016 audited financial statements and a fact sheet of highlights at a special called meeting; after answering council questions she concluded the city was financially sound and the council unanimously approved the 2015–2016 Annual Audit.

In December Community Development Director Niki Sappington briefed the council on the timeline and requirements for the 2019–2039 Comprehensive Plan update, noting the process would begin in March 2018 and be completed by February 2019 for submission to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2017-0010 to begin the plan update and contract with the Three Rivers Regional Commission (TRRC).

The two actions represent routine but required financial oversight and planning steps that maintain the city’s eligibility for state and federal programs and set a multi-year planning schedule.
