The Spencer-Owen Community Schools board voted 5–0 to accept a $112,476 career coaching subgrant from the U.S. Department of Education to keep a career coach at the high school through at least the 2026–27 school year.
Superintendent Klein presented the grant request and asked the board to accept the subgrant so the district can continue providing a career-coaching position for secondary students. The board conducted a roll-call vote and approved the request unanimously.
The grant was described as dedicated to maintaining the current career-coach position; administration said the funds would cover salary and related costs for the position through the stated school year. No amendments or conditions were recorded during the discussion.
The board’s action keeps the district’s career-readiness support in place as administrators continue to pursue community and legislative outreach to support secondary vocational programming.
