The Barnesville City Council confirmed Tim Turner as the city’s permanent City Manager following multiple meetings and executive sessions early in 2022.
Turner had been serving as Acting City Manager; Council actions at special meetings and workshops authorized compensation adjustments and eventually a permanent appointment. Council minutes show unanimous approval for moving Turner from assistant/acting status to full City Manager and passage of related resolutions confirming compliance with Georgia Open Meetings Law where personnel was discussed in executive session.
Council members and staff cited Turner’s responsiveness on operational issues — from storm response to ongoing utility and development questions — during the transition period. The council authorized the Mayor to execute the employment agreement and later approved budget amendments that included a cost-of-living adjustment for city staff.
The appointment concludes a multi-step process that included executive-session negotiations and formal resolution readings in public session. Turner’s responsibilities will include implementation of the council’s retreat priorities, oversight of utility projects and infrastructure work, and coordination of ongoing real-estate and economic development efforts.
