The Scott County School District 2 board voted to approve a restructuring of central office staff that reduces the number of distinct office positions and absorbs duties through attrition while providing compensation adjustments for added responsibilities.
"We absorb a position because, obviously, anytime anyone leaves within the district, we're always gonna look at what we can do to soak that up through attrition," the superintendent said, adding the approach avoids immediate cuts. Committee members voiced appreciation for central office staff and concern about workload: one member said they did not want employees to be "overloaded and are able to keep up with the work." A board member urged additional training and professional development to support staff during the transition.
The board also approved a set of NEOLA policy updates covering dozens of items, including nondiscrimination, staff evaluation, executive sessions and anti-harassment language; the superintendent and members said the changes align the district with state requirements. Chair (S1) called the voice votes and the motions passed by recorded voice counts of 5-0.
Board members emphasized that the restructuring is intended to preserve services while the district determines whether further adjustments will be needed; staff said they would continue using external HR resources for training and monitor workload and staffing needs going forward.
