At a March 9 staff agenda review, staff previewed a set of presentation and policy items slated for the March 11 city commission meeting.
Moderator said Mayor Steve Bridal Crews of Southwest Ranches will present on the South Waste Authority’s current status and next steps to help the commission decide whether to continue participation or withdraw. “He will make a presentation on the solid waste authority's, current status and the next steps,” the moderator said.
Staff also said the commission previously commissioned Colliers International to solicit redevelopment proposals for the municipal complex and the public services complex, including mixed-use development and construction of a new municipal complex and a campus solar station; staff will present proposals received and seek guidance from the commission.
The agenda includes item 11c, described as a motion to rescind prior commission action dated April 23 to reopen the question of installing speed-detection systems in school zones, and item 11d, a request to amend the city's on-street parking policy to add Mainland Section 6 to neighborhoods with parking restrictions. Staff also listed appointment items for advisory committees and noted Vice Mayor Martin Bolton would be appointed as the liaison/ambassador to the Yard on the Lawn Music Festival.
A member of the Sister Cities Committee said about three committee members will present background on the partnership (the committee will introduce the item and a company will follow with further detail). The staff review concluded with a reminder that the full commission meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the items will be before the commission that evening.
