The House of Representatives adopted House Resolution No. 204 on a voice vote congratulating top finishers at the recent LifeSmart State Competition and recessed to allow members to present certificates and meet the honorees.
Representative Tam introduced the resolution and moved its adoption; Representative Whitson seconded. "It is my honor to introduce the Iolani Raiders as our first place winners in this year's LifeSmart State competition," Tam said, noting the team will compete at the national event in Orlando next month.
Members highlighted the competition's focus on practical life skills. Representative Chun introduced Waipahu High School teams, describing LifeSmart as testing knowledge in personal finance, consumer rights, health and safety, technology and the environment, and asked colleagues to join in congratulating the students. Representative Hashem acknowledged Kalani High School's second-place finish and recognized its team despite weather-related absence.
The clerk called for the question and the presiding officer announced the motion carried. The House recessed to allow members to meet the student teams and present certificates.
The resolution was offered by Representatives Tam and Woodson. The next scheduled meeting of the House is set for 12:00 noon Monday, when routine business will resume.
