At a session of the House of Representatives, members approved journal days 17 through 22 and took several routine actions before adjourning until 12:00 noon Monday.
Representative Morikawa moved to "dispense with the reading of the journal of the seventeenth through the 20 second days and approve the same as though read throughout," and Representative Garcia seconded. Madam Speaker put the question and the motion "is carried" after a voice vote, approving the journals for those days.
The clerk reported no messages from the governor. The clerk then announced receipt of senate bills "all having passed third reading in the senate" and referred members to the addendum to the order of the day. Representative Morikawa moved that the senate bills received by the clerk "pass first reading by title;" Representative Garcia seconded, and the House approved the motion by voice vote.
The chamber paused for introductions. Representative Keohokapu Lili introduced guests from the Island of Hawaii YMCA and asked them to rise; Representative Iwo Moro noted that the YMCA is celebrating its 175th year and named Wendy Botello, CEO of the Island of Hawaii YMCA, and Walter Thomas, CEO of the YMCA of Honolulu, among those present. Representative Iwo Moro also introduced students from Princess Ruth K.A. Likolani Middle School and their teacher, Cheryl Sakai, and welcomed them to the House.
Members made a series of announcements. Representative Tam said that Tourism Day at the Capitol was postponed because of weather and has been rescheduled for April 10. Representative Elegon said Innovation Day was postponed and rescheduled for April 1 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Representative LaChica invited members to participate in House Education Committee Week next week; details will be shared via advisory.
Representative Morikawa moved that the House stand adjourned until 12:00 noon Monday; Representative Garcia seconded. The motion carried by voice vote and Madam Speaker declared, "The house stands adjourned until 12 noon, Monday."
