House places and adopts broad consent calendar of judicial and board nominees

The House placed a large set of nominations — including judicial reappointments, state referees, board of trustees and regulatory nominees — on a consent calendar and adopted the consent calendar by roll call.

Committee sponsors briefly summarized nominees’ qualifications, repeatedly noting unanimous committee support. The consent calendar included several judicial reconfirmations (e.g., Barbara Hoffman, Daniel Clough, Stephanie McLaughlin, Peter McShane and others) and multiple nominees to advisory and regulatory boards. Several members recused themselves where appropriate and multiple speakers praised nominees’ experience and public service.

The clerk announced the consent calendar totals after the machine vote and stated that the items on the consent calendar were adopted. Following passage, members made brief announcements and the House recessed and later adjourned subject to the call of the chair.

What’s next: Nominees placed on the consent calendar will assume or continue in their offices per the usual appointment or reappointment processes.
