Three nominees for public seats on the Big Game Commercial Services Board introduced themselves to the Senate Resources Committee March 23.
Brianna Haug said she was recommended for the private-landowner seat and described work at Doyon Limited managing roughly 12.5 million acres, focusing on trespass mitigation, land-use permitting and interaction with hunters and transporters. She told senators she is interested in protecting Alaska lands and wildlife while representing private landholders.
Larry Conder, a reappointment candidate, said he is a strong public advocate for wildlife and a voice for public concerns, emphasizing accountability for guides and transporters and an interest in maintaining high professional standards.
Robert Mumford, who previously served on the board and has a background in wildlife enforcement and as a transporter, said he would bring experience in regulation and oversight and stressed the need for high standards for guides and transporters.
No public testimony opposing these appointments was recorded in the hearing transcript; the committee read a report documenting the appointees and will circulate paperwork for signatures.
