The Rhode Island House of Representatives met on March 17, 2026, and approved three pieces of legislation affecting criminal reporting, family-court procedures and medical-claims handling.
Chairwoman McAdee presented House Bill 7554, saying the measure "would expand the meaning of bomb threats and false reports to include a warning or threat of the existence of an explosive device" that prompts a law-enforcement response and would allow judges to impose conditions of bail such as "extreme risk protection orders, no trespass orders and counseling." Chairwoman McAdee moved passage; the House recorded 57 votes in favor and 6 opposed and the act prevailed.
Chairwoman McAdee then presented House Bill 7036, described as an act relating to delinquent and dependent children proceedings in family court that would "require every school district to render assistance and cooperation" by providing courts with information about a child as the court may require. The motion to pass was seconded; the House voted 64–0 in favor and the act prevailed.
Chairman Solomon presented House Bill 7002 (sponsored by Chairman Corvazi), saying it would "prohibit a health care entity or health plan from denying a claim for payment of any medical bill based solely on the reason that the bill may have arisen from a third-party claim or incident other than a claim for workers' compensation." Solomon noted there was no opposition and that the bill had passed previously in 2025; he moved its passage. The House voted 63–0 in favor and the act prevailed.
Each bill was moved, seconded on the floor and approved by recorded roll-call votes. No formal amendments or recorded floor debate changing the bills' substantive language were noted on the transcript of the session.
Next steps: The matters were transmitted as customary to the governor, the senate, or the secretary of state for any further required processing.
