Committee moves forecast‑adjustment bill to finance committee

Chair Kunish moved Senate File 42‑82 on March 25, describing it as a forecast‑adjustment that amends the E‑12 education appropriations enacted in 2025 to align with the February 2026 forecast. The chair said the forecast fully funds statutory formulas under current law and that forecast adjustments typically reflect changes in pupil counts, program participation or actual counts.

Senator Coonerty renewed the motion to recommend that SF 42‑82 pass and be referred to the finance committee; the committee voted to move the bill to finance by voice vote. Committee members did not engage in extended debate on this technical forecast bill during the hearing.

The bill will be considered in the finance committee as part of the standard budget and forecast process.
