Commissioners approve RFQ to buy snow-removal equipment for Ricks Field using FAA grant

Rosebud County commissioners voted to approve a request for qualifications to acquire snow-removal equipment for Ricks Field, accepting a single bid and authorizing the county to pursue purchase with an FAA grant and a local match.

The motion to approve the RFQ was made by a committee member and seconded; the chair called the vote and announced the motion carried. During discussion, the committee member said KLJ had managed the procurement in prior cycles and that the RFQ covers a single project term to allow equipment purchases for the next five years.

Sally Warner, the county clerk, confirmed procedural details. The committee member said most of the equipment would be covered by FAA grant funds but that some components — specifically the forks used to lift equipment — are not covered and will require a local match. The member described the local share as roughly $19,000 and said the state FAA portion would cover approximately $18,000; those numbers were presented as approximate during the meeting.

The board approved the RFQ and directed staff to proceed with procurement under the terms discussed. No amendments or alternate funding sources were specified at the meeting.

The next procedural step is for county staff to complete procurement paperwork and award the purchase in accordance with the approved RFQ and applicable grant rules.
