The Fairfield County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on March 17 to approve a participation agreement enabling the county to join national opioid litigation and related settlement arrangements. Commissioner Jeff Fix moved the measure and Commissioner David Levacy seconded; Commissioners Fix, Levacy and Steve Davis recorded aye votes.
The agreement covers participation relating to Associated Pharmacies, Inc.; JM Smith Co.; Morris and Dickson; Louisiana Wholesale Drug Company, Inc.; North Carolina Wholesale Drug Company, Inc.; and UNFI/SuperValu, as presented by legal counsel on the national opioid litigation matter. The resolution was recorded on the consent agenda as item 2026-03.17.a and passed by roll call vote.
Why it matters: County participation in national opioid litigation can affect how settlement funds are distributed locally for treatment, prevention or abatement programs. The commissioners approved the participation agreement during the meeting’s consent-vote portion and did not request further debate at the table.
The Board took no further action on the item at the meeting. The commission's next regular meeting is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on March 24, 2026, in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room at 210 E. Main St., Lancaster.
