The Senate Finance Committee on March 26 unanimously recommended Scott Applegate and Clay Roberts for confirmation to the Colorado Banking Board.
Lisonbee Rothermel, Operations and Public Deposit Protection Act Director for the Division of Banking, introduced the nominees and described the division’s role overseeing state‑chartered banks, trust companies and licensed money transmitters and enforcing the Public Deposit Protection Act. Scott Applegate, present in the hearing room, said he is president and CEO of Bank of Estes Park with roughly 30 years in Colorado banking. Clay Roberts participated remotely and described his background in anti‑money‑laundering compliance and payments oversight with AUS Merchant Services and earlier roles at Western Union and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
Vice Chair Marchman moved a favorable recommendation to the full Senate. The committee took roll call and recorded a unanimous vote to forward both nominees; the chair said their names will likely appear on the Senate consent calendar.
The committee took no public testimony beyond the introductions and offered brief thanks to the nominees for stepping forward to serve.
