Schererville s Town Council on March 11 approved multiple infrastructure actions tied to road and sewer work for the 2026 construction season.
The council authorized acceptance of a Norfolk Southern license agreement to relocate an existing sewer related to the Kennedy Avenue grade-separation project and authorized town officials to finalize execution and submit payment of $21,804.50. Director of Operations Andy Hanson said the town had previously estimated the cost at about $17,000 but that the final required payment is $21,804.50.
Public Works recommended awarding the town s annual asphalt paving contract to Milestone Contractors and the pour-in-place concrete contract to H3 Concrete Company after soliciting three bids for each contract. "After a thorough price review, recommendation is hereby submitted to award the paving contract to Milestone Contractors," Public Works Director Chad Nondorf said; he added that pricing reflected a small increase over 2025.
Council also noted that no companies bid the concrete disposal service this year and authorized Public Works to continue using Dyer Construction for disposal work, citing prior-year usage and small historical costs (about $2,000 $3,000 in prior years).
Why it matters: these approvals set the town s vendors for routine pavement and concrete work for 2026 and clear a necessary easement/license step for sewer work on Kennedy Avenue.
Outcome: All motions carried by unanimous or recorded voice votes (5-0). The Norfolk Southern payment and contract awards were authorized; staff were directed to proceed with contract execution and operational follow-ups.
