Glendale council approves $1,000 for Main Street planters and forms volunteer committee

The Glendale Town Council approved a $1,000 appropriation to support a volunteer-led planters program on Main Street.

Chair (S1) reported that three residents—Vicky Stenger, Bridal Maxwell and Jamie Spencer—had volunteered to lead a committee to plant and maintain Main Street planters. Council members discussed sponsorship options and whether businesses or families might share costs. A volunteer estimate of about $800 was cited; Council member S3 moved to appropriate $1,000 to the beautification fund and S4 seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Council asked the committee to return with a concrete plan in April, and staff explained that reimbursements will require receipts rather than a direct check for auditing reasons. Council members said the committee may seek sponsorships so that town funds are used only if necessary.
