Hall County commissioners on March 10 approved a slate of consent-agenda items and awarded a public-works asphalt overlay contract to Werner Construction.
The board voted 7-0 to adopt the minutes and consent agenda and then opened three bids for project C4565. Public-works staff read the proposals: Gary Smith Construction ($668,175.64), Werner Construction ($536,729.30) and J I L Asphalt Paving ($690,856.62). After review, the board voted to award the contract to Werner Construction and referred contract execution to the public-works director and county engineering.
The motion to award the overlay was recommended by staff, who said Werner’s numbers checked out and their proposal met bonding requirements. The board chair closed the vote and announced a unanimous decision.
In related land-use business, commissioners approved final plats and associated resolutions for the CJH Subdivision and the Half Subdivision and approved a conservation agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The board also opened HVAC bids for a courthouse project and referred those proposals (including a $1,107,000 bid from Rhett’s Heating and Air and another from Helm Service with alternate equipment pricing) to corrections and engineering staff for further review before any award.
What happens next: staff will finalize contracts and return to the board as needed for signature or additional approvals.
