AB 15 99, sponsored in part by Move LA and AARP, would direct Caltrans to create a centralized California Transit Stop Registry with standardized information about public transit stops across the state.
Eli Liman, executive director of Move LA, described inconsistent stop naming and identifiers across agencies that hinder seamless trip planning and agency operations. He said a single source of truth could save Caltrans “millions potentially,” citing SB 960 funding and the costs of fragmented datasets.
David Acevedo of AARP urged support, saying older adults rely on accurate transit information and that standardized data will improve accessibility and customer experience statewide. Multiple regional transit agencies and advocacy organizations voiced support; no registered opposition appeared at the hearing.
The committee approved the measure and sent it to the Committee on Appropriations.
