Capital Metro approves $517,430 roof‑replacement contract for East 5th Street campus

The Capital Metro Board on March 23 approved a resolution authorizing the president and CEO to finalize and execute a contract with Ortiz Construction Group Inc. to replace roofs at the administration, fleet‑maintenance and fuel/wash buildings at 2910 East 5th Street in Austin for an amount not to exceed $517,430.

Mr. Hill, presenting the item, said the roofs on the three buildings are about 20 years old and that warranties have expired, which has led to leaks. “The roofs at all those buildings are 20 years old … and we're having roof leaks in those buildings. That's why we are proposing to change out the roofs for those 3 facilities,” Hill said.

The motion to approve the contract was moved and seconded (movers recorded in the meeting); the board approved the item by voice vote and the chair declared the measure unanimous. Staff said the project is part of standard 'state of good repair' maintenance work and no additional detailed discussion or amendments were recorded on the floor.
