Chair Malia Collins proposed extending planning commission work sessions from 60 to 90 minutes to give members more time to handle detailed zoning reviews and reduce rushed conclusions. "If we went ahead and just planned for a 90 minute meeting, it would definitely relieve some of my stress of trying to wrap things up," Collins said.
Commissioners generally supported the extension but discussed start‑time logistics; several favored a 5:30 p.m. start so meetings still finish by 7 p.m., while others said they preferred a 6 p.m. start to accommodate dinner schedules. Collins said she will check with town staff (Erin) about whether extending session length requires a formal vote or public notice.
On training, multiple commissioners said they will attend upcoming land‑use sessions hosted by the Utah League of Cities and Towns (ULCT), and the group noted the council’s amended 2026 budget includes increased funds for training attendance. One commissioner volunteered to contact ULCT to clarify whether ethics training or meeting rules (for example, travel or conversations among members) impose any restrictions.
Commissioners agreed to add a brief report‑out on training to the next agenda so attendees can relay relevant takeaways to the full commission.
