Commissioners raised two separate community items during the March 19 work session: a local land‑use concern about a recycled‑materials project on a residential lot and an invitation to a March 23 community workshop about tribal set‑aside funds for home‑energy rebates.

One commissioner asked whether the recycled‑materials project could be operating as a lumber yard on property currently zoned residential and whether that would require rezoning or the appeal process used for other conditional uses. The group discussed the history of that neighborhood’s zoning and agreed it would be appropriate to revisit documentation and potentially invite the project representatives to a meeting so the commission can determine whether the use fits the existing residential designation or warrants a formal application.

Separately, a commissioner described a March 23 event at the community center — a listening and design workshop for implementing tribal set‑aside funds within the state home‑energy rebates program. "It's a tribal set aside. It's $8,000,000," the commissioner said, and invited planning commissioners and town staff to attend; the implementer GreenCat and its principals Brett Monson and Brett Schallenberger were named as participants.

The commission agreed to research the documentation for the recycled‑materials site and to place the matter on a future agenda if evidence suggests a formal zoning review is needed.
