At the March 23 workshop Angela McDonald, who identified herself as a resident commissioner on the Boca Raton Housing Authority, read a public statement putting the council on notice about an internal Housing Authority policy she opposes.
McDonald said the Housing Authority board on Jan. 28, 2026, voted 6–1 to adopt a policy that restricts individual commissioners' ability to request information from the executive director; she said her vote was the only dissent. McDonald described the policy as an attempt by the majority to silence a dissenting commissioner and said she was placing the matter on the public record so "no one can later say they didn't know." She said the action, paired with a prior motion to remove her from the board, demonstrated a coordinated effort to limit her oversight.
Mayor Singer acknowledged McDonald's statement, said the workshop was not the best forum for some of those concerns, and urged her to follow up by email. He told McDonald "you can always reach out by email, as you know." No formal complaint or grievance was filed during the workshop record, and the council did not take action at the meeting.
Other public commenters at the workshop criticized recent council decisions and requested better planning; Richard Warner criticized the government campus project, and Jonathan Unjian raised concerns about parking variances and a forthcoming freestanding emergency room discussion. Joe Majes raised traffic and parking concerns related to utility work on East Palmetto Park Road.
