The Greenwood Common Council unanimously approved Resolution 2604, allowing city parks staff to pursue appraisals for three small parcels along Honey Creek Road with the goal of obtaining easements to fill a trail gap and create a safe connection to Westwood Elementary.
"We are just looking for your permission to pursue appraisals for 3 small parcels, to try to get easements to fill a gap of an existing trail," Jen, the assistant director of the parks department, told the council. She said the connection would be "about less than 0.2 miles to connect that to Westwood Elementary" and described the request as a step toward creating a safe trail link.
Council members moved to suspend the rules to expedite the resolution, then voted to pass Resolution 2604 through second reading by an 8-0 roll-call vote.
Parks staff emphasized the request was to pursue appraisals and easements; the council’s action in this meeting authorized staff to proceed with those preliminary steps. The resolution did not include detailed estimates of acquisition costs or funding sources in the transcript.
