Council approves consent items and appoints JC English to EDC

The Greenwood Common Council cleared several miscellaneous business items and filled an appointment to the Economic Development Commission at its March 16 meeting.

On the consent-related CF items, the council voted to approve items 1–4 by voice or roll-call as presented. Item 5 passed with one abstention; the chair stated the result as "approved" with the final tally noted as 7 in favor, 0 opposed and 1 abstention.

For the Economic Development Commission appointment, two candidates were nominated: incumbent Randy Gooden and applicant JC English. English introduced himself to the council: "My name is JC English. ... I work in insurance, so I regularly talk to a lot of business owners," and said he was interested in serving on the commission. The council conducted a roll-call vote and, according to the chair, recorded five votes for English and three for Gooden. The chair said he would follow up with information about the duties and swearing-in process.

Council members thanked Randy Gooden for his past service and informed English that staff would contact him about next steps. No controversy or further debate on the appointment was recorded in the transcript.
