Idaho House approves previous day’s journal, announces balanced-budget hearing with governor invited and adjourns

The Idaho House on Jan. 19 approved the journal of the fifth legislative day after a committee report and a floor motion. A committee representative reported the journal had been read and recommended adoption; the motion to approve the journal was moved by Skogg and seconded by Gannon and passed by voice vote.

Members used the announcements period to recognize guests in the gallery, including teachers and members of the Idaho Education Association. Floor announcements included a lunchtime talk on sound money and a scheduled informational hearing on a proposed balanced-budget amendment set for 8 a.m. on Jan. 20 in the Majority Caucus Room; the announcement stated that Governor Ron DeSantis was an invited guest to the Jan. 20 informational hearing. The majority also announced it would caucus immediately after adjournment.

A floor motion to adjourn the House until 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, was made and the House adjourned after the motion passed by voice vote.
