In closing remarks March 24, Commissioner Lorraine Kamalu and the chair announced that Davis County’s new regional Emergency Operations Center (EOC), funded in part by American Rescue Plan funds, is substantially complete and will serve Northern Utah.
Kamalu said a FEMA 402 training for city leaders is scheduled Saturday, March 28, from 8 a.m. to noon to help officials understand EOC operations and how to use the new regional asset. The EOC is intended to support responses across multiple counties, with invitations extended to city and emergency stakeholders in Northern Utah.
Kamalu thanked first responders and county staff involved in completing the EOC and noted a ribbon-cutting event planned for Friday, March 26 (announcement included start time and address). Commissioners encouraged attendance and said the center will strengthen regional disaster response coordination.
Kamalu also shared a personal note of thanks for first responders after an unexpected family medical emergency earlier in March, describing their response as lifesaving and underscoring the value of local emergency services.
